Data Engineer

Bloc are currently partnered with an exciting eCommerce start-up that focuses on providing insightful data and solutions to their clients across Big Data, Artificial intelligence and customer experience, across web and mobile.

As they continue to grow they now have an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer to join their technically advanced team.

Your tasks:
Collaborating with the teams to gain a deep understanding of their business model, data processing and Data Warehouse infrastructure
Implement data pipelines and infrastructure for platforms
Design ETL processes, refine DWH architectures, build APIs and reports
Maintain, optimise and extend data operations and their warehouse infrastructure
Utilise various data processing technologies and distributed processing frameworks

Your skills:
At least 3 years' experience working with large scale data processing systems, ideally based on open-source systems
You have solid software development skills in Java.
Expertise in Python and Unix shell scripting
You have worked with at least one processing framework such as Spark, Hadoop, Presto, Storm, Flink, Heron
It would be very beneficial if you have worked with DevOps infrastructure frameworks such as Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes or AWS
